Jack & Luna - Est Feb 2022

This pair of loonies weren't meant to be both ours but soon after getting them we realised we were in for one heck of a road as we couldn't separate them. Love at first sight they have lived through every moment of our lives filling us with core memories. Big reds has always been on hand to help and see them grow. We have put our heart and soul into these dogs even when the ££££££ were massive. They both come everywhere with us and changed our lives for the better in so many ways. It's a good job they are only chihuahuas or we'd be squished by now as their most favorite thing to do is have a cuddle no matter who you are or what size you are. Honestly the most amazing pair we could have been blessed with. THANK YOU big reds

Nigel

Couldn’t pick just a few photos!
We got Nigel on 12th July and straight away he changed our lives. He is so sweet, eager to please us. Very quickly learns his tricks. He can do sit, paw, lay down, he’s trying to roll over on command. And spin. He knows when it’s bed time and take himself to bed for the night. He loves his long walks. He has so much patience with my little girly, who is obsessed with him. He’ll go give her big cuddles when she’s not having the best day. And knows when to give her space. He’s just the best new addition to our home. Even the cats have grown to love him and his cheeky ways.
We love our Nigel and so glad he come to us for his forever home

Carol Anne

We collected Carol Anne on August 18, 2023, for what we thought would be a week of foster care. But just two days later, she became a permanent resident. I had been following Carol Anne’s story on Big Red’s Facebook page, hoping she would be adopted. After the heartbreaking loss of our 18-year-old dog on August 1, we were devastated. That’s when I remembered Carol Anne and contacted Big Red’s to see if we could foster her. From the moment she walked into our home, she made herself comfortable, settling between us on the sofa and falling into a deep sleep. It took about four months for her to fully settle in, with a few mishaps along the way, but that's to be expected. Carol Anne is an absolutely gorgeous dog who loves everyone she meets, greeting all the neighbors and friends with joy. She loves being out and about and will quietly lie under the table when we dine out. We never go anywhere without her. During the first few weeks, Big Red’s checked in regularly to make sure we were all doing well and offered support if needed. The adoption process was smooth, and I even met Suella with Carol for a check-in.This past year with Carol Anne has been brilliant. We've learned about each other and shared many special moments. She loves having family and grandchildren visit, and she’s even enjoyed holidays, staying in dog-friendly hotels. As long as she’s with us, she’s happy. Carol Anne is truly a member of our family, and we couldn’t imagine life without her.

Bertie

This is Bertie boy who was found walking along the motorway. Suella at Big Reds took him straight away into her rescue. He was loved and looked after so well. I saw him on her Facebook post in January 2017 snapped him up. he arrived with me in the April 2017. When it was his time to come to the Uk on the way to the holding pen for transportation Suella cried and sang an Adela song to him in the back of her car. 7 years now he’s been loved and spoilt by me and my kids and grandkids. I cannot thank Suella at Big Reds enough for taking care of him.

Patsy (Lucy) & Eddie (Connie)

Meet our furry family Henry, Patsy and Eddie (Edina)
However it wasn’t this size until March 2024,  Henry (Apricot Red) had an older brother, a beautiful french bulldog Clyde. Sadly Clyde passed away, devastating us all, but especially Henry. In the following weeks, Henry became severely withdrawn and depressed, no matter how much love and affection we gave him, it couldn’t replace what he truly needed, canine companionship.
A friend of ours, informed us that Suella at Big Red’s had reached out to find a home for  2 female standard poodles. Hoping for the best scenario for both to be rehomed together, however realistically knew that it may not happen and actually, wasn’t supposed to happen at first.
We contacted Suella and asked if there was any possibility of only adopting one of the girls. We were informed to our suprise that there was another person interested in rehoming the black poodle, formerly known as Connie. So, Lucy the white poodle, now Patsy, was available for us to trial. We agreed and arranged the meet.
Suella brought Lucy, for Henry to meet her. I’ll never forget the words, that came out of Suella’s mouth, “Well, I have something to tell you!”
“Oh no” we thought.
“Well, the little black one is in the car too!”
It turned out, unfortunately for Connie, that her possible adoption, wasn’t a match. Suella, didn’t feel that it would benefit Connie, as there were some red flags from the adopters side.
We admire this so much; rather than rehome for the sake of it, Suella truly cares and reads the signals from the potential adopters and from the animals and if Suella feels it’s not a match, then it’s not a match. This is what sets Big Red’s apart from the other rescues in the area.
Suella told us we now had the opportunity to adopt either of the girls. To be honest, for us it was which was the better match for Henry.  We explained again to Suella that as much guilt as we felt, that we wouldn’t be able to home both girls, we really could only take one on.
Suella knew this, and never applied any pressure. However the guilt of pulling one of the girls away from the other, could end in the same way that Henry felt after losing his Clyde.
We decided that we would trial them both together over the weekend and see which one Henry bonded with the best and vice versa.
Suella made it clear that at no point did we have to, have both, and if it became too much she was at the end of the phone at any time to pick one or both, back up if needed.
Anyway long story short we have 3 poodles now, hahaha. Henry couldn’t choose and neither could we.
After the trial period Suella made the adoption process, quick and painless, supplying all of the appropriate paperwork and talking us through the steps.
Suella’s work is invaluable and the love she has for the animals she rescues, is incredible.
The donations she receives no matter how big or small are invaluable to the continued care and support she gives to all of her rescues, for food, supplies and veterinary bills. So, if after reading Lucy and Connie’s story, even if you are not in the position to adopt, please give a donation, it will help Suella to continue to give fantastic care to her rescues.

Donnie
It’s hard to put into words how much I love Donnie and how much he has changed my life. He really is my absolute world and he brings me joy and makes me laugh every day. He loves his cuddles and he loves his ball and everyone loves him. It’s only been a year but it’s odd to think of life without him. He can be a little tinker sometimes, and there are some quirks that we’re still figuring out, but his cheeky face melts my heart every day. It’s difficult to think about where he came from, and what might have happened if Suella and her amazing team of supporters hadn’t stepped in to rescue him. It’s even harder when you think of how many other Donnie’s there are who also need help. So I will always be thankful for Suella and Big Reds for saving him, for introducing him to me, and for continuing to fight every day to help and save as many other animals as possible.

Winston
No, I don’ want another cat!!
Well, we have 5 rescue cats already, we live in a big Villa and our 5 cats have the country side to explore. My wife has always, and I mean always wanted a Sphinx cat. So, there I was scrolling through Facebook as you do, only to see one of Suella’s adverts to temporary adopt a baby sphinx cat!! I contacted Suella straight away whom I have known for years and told we would take responsibility for the cat!! So, I got my wife in car under false pretence and took her to Big Reds, once there Suella, showed her the Sphinx cat my wife screamed and said is that for us! I said yes. We did a bit of paperwork and took the cat home. We had to wait 3 more weeks, before the cat would be officially ours!! We named the Sphinx Winston. Stanger that’s Suella uses that name as well!! Love you Suella, keep up the amazing work that you do!! Keith and Keiley. PS Winston is living in the lap of luxury and is now the Top Cat!!

Tyson (was Eric)
Hello my name's Tyson. 2 years ago a lovely couple where walking by the river and herd me crying. They didn't know what the sound was, but the knew it was a baby in trouble. This nice man climbed down th river and found me scared, alone and crying for my mummy in a dirty smelly plastic bag. They carried me and hugged me all the way to my Auntie Suella in her shop in Almoradí. Everyone calls this lady crocs… so Crocs took me back to her tribe. They all sniffed me and made me feel like a lived baby that I'd served to be.
Later crocs took me to the stabby lady.. my mum calls her the vet but I think she lies haha… anyway they checked me over and said i was ok ish… i had bad skin, sore feet and toes, my face was dry and scabby as was my body. My mouth was sore too but crocs made sure I had lots of delicious yummy meats.
Later that day crocs messaged a friend.. who's now my mummy. My mummy fell in love with me instantly. I mean how could she not. The only problem was, mummy already had a doggo too. And she was a little mean because she was older than me. So mummy took me home to see if my big sister would like me. She didn't 😂 but we grew too love eachother so much. She taught me everything about being a doggy.
I also had more brothers and sisters too. I have Holman siblings…and LOTS of them. It's great. They through toys and play tug and I drag them around in the park at play time. They love me as much as I love them. One even has the same coloured hair and my floof haha . Ment to be ayy.
As I got bigger mummy took me to the stabby lady …the vet … a lot to be checked on and my jabs. One day I went to the stabby lady and I was so excited because everytime I go I got s yummy chewy stick treat because I'm a good boy. Well today I got a different kinda suprise. I walked in being a big brave boy… and tip toed out.. she went and had my nuggests off…. Rude I must say.
But mummy said I had too. It didn't calm me down though haha. The stabby lady lied to my mum haha I'm still a huge bolder head dog that had killer zoomies haha.
So that's my little story. All thanks to BIG REDS I got my dream family that love me more than anything. Even if I do stink and scare myself 😂

Nora
We can´t thank Suella & Lizzy from Big Reds enough for letting us adopt our beautiful princess, Nora. The adoption process was very easy and professional. We have never adopted an animal before, so we didn’t no what to expect. We knew a little bit about Noras background. It is the best thing we have ever done and so rewarding. She is the most beautiful girl and a pleasure to have. We love her so much and her personality over time has improved day by day. We would recommend adopting or fostering from Big Reds. They work so hard from day to day to ensure the animals are well cared for and on the end of the phone if you need any advice. We wouldn’t hesitate for one second to adopt from Big Reds again. Thank you again so much Gina & Lisa San Miguel.
